Can't access my old HD's folder (F:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop) from Windows 7
Hi, Please help. My old laptop running WinXP with NTSF format has 4 partitions (C, D, E, F). But the laptop died on my recently. Bought a new laptop running Win 7. I pulled out my old HD from WinXP and use it as external HD. I can access D, E, F drives without any problem. But, when I try to access my "F:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop" folder, I've got saying I do not have Access Privileges. I need those files saved on my old DESKTOP. How do I bypass this security? Thanks

Hi, You would like to take the ownership of the original disk C: Documents and Settings\User\Desktop (current disk F: Documents and Settings\User\Desktop). Please refer to this. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659.aspx Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

Hi Kim, Yes. I have done before but still getting the same error! What about this? Under Effective Permissions? I changed it to my name, but was gray out!
